| On the Road to Friendship Presented by Stairway to Friendship Therapy Services Stairway to Friendship specializes in therapy based upon Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) which is a parent based treatment program designed for individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). RDI helps people on the Autistic Spectrum find a pathway to emotionally fulfulling lives and friendships by addressing the core deficits of ASD such as difficulty with social communication, rigid thinking, inability to emotionally connect with others and an aversion to change. This powerful model focuses a fun, family centered approach to social development. Participantes in the seminar will: *Learn new ways of connecting with your child that will expand their potential to develop relationships *Learn hands on activities and techniques to take home and applly right away *Experience how to turn simple daily living activities into experiences that enhance social motivation. *Watch videos of parents and their children of a variety of ages and levels of functioning. *Watch videos of small groups of different ages *Learn to integrate sensory organizing techniques as you play and work with your child Date: To be announced Time: 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (Please plan to arrive at 9:15 a.m. to check in as the presentation will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m.) Location: Evolibri Murphy Square Building 111 W. About the presenters: Karen Glass, OTR/L has over 25 years of experience as an occupational therapist. She has worked extensively with brain-injured adolescents, victims of stroke, spinal cord injury, orthopedic injury, and those with a variety of psychiatric disorders. She is a Certified RDI Provider and has been working with children and yound adults with ASD for the past 8 years in private practice and in public schools. |
